CHAPTER HISTORY
Finding Inspiration in Every Turn
OUR STORY
The inception of the Theta Xi Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. stands as a profound testament to the visionary leadership and unwavering dedication exemplified by its founder, Mrs. Marjorie Woods. Guided by an unyielding commitment to the organization's core ideals, Mrs. Woods orchestrated the establishment of this chapter, a pivotal milestone that owes its realization to the invaluable guidance and mentorship bestowed by her former Albany State advisor and distinguished Regional Director, Dr. Eunice Thomas. It is with utmost admiration that we recognize Dr. Thomas's exceptional contributions, culminating in her ascendancy to the illustrious position of the 19th Past International Grand President. Against the backdrop of history, the significance of May 26, 1976, emerges as a hallmark date, signifying the formal chartering of the Theta Xi Zeta Chapter, accompanied by ten charter members whose names resonate with distinction and dedication: Mrs. Lois Baker, Miss Lillie Bonner, Mrs. Phreddye Broome, Mrs. Ethel Kight, Mrs. Voncile Jackson, Mrs. Willie Mae Jackson, Mrs. Elizabeth Scott, Miss Aleasa Williams, Mrs. Wanda Williams, and the visionary leader herself, Mrs. Marjorie Woods. This momentous occasion gains heightened meaning as it was hosted within the intimate confines of Marjorie Woods's own abode, infusing the chapter's inception with her personal dedication and impassioned fervor. In paying homage to this extraordinary journey, we simultaneously honor the indomitable spirit of Mrs. Marjorie Woods, the sagacious counsel of Dr. Eunice Thomas, the founding charter members, and the enduring legacy that the Theta Xi Zeta Chapter embodies—a legacy characterized by an unwavering commitment to excellence, the sacred bonds of sisterhood, and the noble pursuit of community upliftment that lies at the heart of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.
